5 Best Books is a weekly meme that asks participants to list what they consider the 5 best books on a given topic.  For more information on this new book meme go here to Indie Reader Houston.

I realised last year that this is a style I really enjoy so I am excited about the meme today and hope I am able to get many recommendations, please leave a comment and recommendation 'pretty please'  :-)

The Tomato Girl, Jayne Pupek

The Testimony, Anita Shreve

My Sisters Keeper, Jodi Picoult

The Weight of Silence, Heather Gudenkauf

  1. I love books with multiple narrators too! Great choices! I love My Sister's Keeper and thought the way they implemented so many voices was so cool! Testimony is a great book too! I'll have to check out your other choices. :)

  2. I've only read two of these book, Marce. I like multiple narrators too if it is done well. Gives the reader a broader sense of the plot I think.

  4. I've read three of them and agree! I am currently in the middle of Heather G's These Things Hidden with multiple narrators and it is very good. I also enjoyed The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova.

  5. When I saw the title I immediately thought of The Guernsey Literary Potato Peel Pie Society. Glad to see it's on your list! This sounds like a fun meme; I'll definitely have to check it out!

  6. I've read all of those books except The Weight of Silence and agree with you on each of them. Tomato Girl is one book in particular that I wish had gotten more attention.

  10. I read all of the picks you have except for Anita Shreve's, but I have to say my favorite from your picks is The Guersney Literary and Potato Peel Society! It had perfect narration.

  13. I've only read My Sister's Keeper. I enjoy mulitple narrators just as along as its not TOO heavy handed like some of Picoult's can be. If you are going to be a narrator, then you need to have an important part of the story, you know? Picoult sometimes will build mulitple narrators almost because she likes to flesh out characters even though their details mean nothing to the story. Just my two cents!!

  14. The only one of these I haven't read is The Potato Peel Society but I will one day since so many have loved it. The others though I really loved. Have you ever read anything by Sarah Addison Allen? She's a fantastic writer!
